you know that word “alternative”??!

well, the word to me means something that is completely different. however, the 21st century has changed it irrevocably. you’ll see “alternative clubnights” advertised promising “the messiest night possible” completely unaware that this is so unalternative it literally hurts, “alternative” political parties that are completely indistinguishable from the “normal” and a media that is largely as corrupt as you can be, each suggesting the other paper or TV channel is worse.

So i want a new word for alternative. i don’t want to be tarred with the same brush as a rock band who just happens to know who Minor Threat are, but who do the devil horns like they’re some top guy. I don’t want to be part of a politik that can only conjure up insults and weak excuses for why they have sucked up to some corporation or other, forgetting that they are supposed to be helping society, not maintaining a boys club of “banter” and bravado. And I can’t bear to be part of a society that tuts at the thought of Gordon Brown’s medical records being exposed, but buys sloppy celebrity gossip up like it actually matters.

And I refuse to be partake of a community that believes “everything should be fair” but separates male from female, black from white from asian, gay from straight, atheist from theist and christian from muslim in every way possible through crass insults, hideous culture and assumed knowledge.

So, I’m off. In search of a new alternative, or an alternative alternative if you will. good luck with your alternatives, let me know how that works out.
